There are few challenges that Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx will back away from. Whether the forum is movies, stage, television or music, Foxx displays an uncanny ability to seize an opportunity and shine. Unlike most other artists, Jamie can boast of starring in his own successful sitcom, playing a leading man on the big screen, selling out venues with his stand-up comedy tour, and acting as award show host, which he has done for the MTV Video Music Awards and The ESPY Awards.
What helped propel Foxx to his current level in Hollywood was his groundbreaking performance in the film Any Given Sunday. The Oliver Stone-directed drama took a gritty look at the life-and-death struggles of professional football, its players, and those who control the strings behind the scenes. He followed that film with performances in two Michael Mann films, Ali and Collateral, before his star-making, Academy Award-winning performance as Ray Charles in Ray, directed by Taylor Hackford.
Foxx is also an accomplished, Grammy-nominated musician; his second album, Unpredictable, went platinum and reached Number 1 on the Billboard charts.
Currently in syndication after completing five successful seasons, The Jamie Foxx Show was one of the highest-rated programs in the history of the WB Network. Foxx not only starred in the series, but was also the co-creator, an executive producer, and director of several episodes. In 2002, Foxx appeared in his first HBO Comedy Special, Jamie Foxx: I Might Need Security.
Jamie was no stranger to television audiences before launching his own series. For three years, he co-starred with Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans, and Tommy Davidson on the landmark Fox series, In Living Color. Foxx's characters were among the funniest and most memorable. He also had a recurring role on the critically acclaimed Fox show, Roc, in which he played Crazy George.
